Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of social networks in students' political participation (Case study: Farhangian University students). In term of the object, the research was applicational, in term of kind of method was descriptive and correlational, and in term of data gattering method, desired reaserch method was surveying. The study population included all students in Farhangian University, in Academic year 94-95. Which included 553 male students of Allame Tabatabaei University and 340 students of Bento-l-Hoda Sadr University in Ardabil. The sample size using by Kokaran formula was 269. This reaerch is stratified random sampling, so that from center of compus Bentol Hoda 114 students and from Pardis Allame Tabatabaei 155 students were selected. To collect the required data, researcher questionnaire using by Milborath and goel model was used. For data Analysis, the SPSS statical software and for analyze the assumptions, Pearson’s correlation coefficient were used. The results show that between presence in social networks and political participation, political motives, political debates, association in political activites and political information available to students, there is a significant negative relationship.
