Abstract
Abstract Social capital is a relatively new concept in social sciences that was created to describe the social relationships of people and means a set of rules, norms, requirements, obligations and mutual trust in social relationships at the community level. The present article has analyzed the evolution of social capital in the country during the last 50 years, while examining the status of social capital in Iran and enumerating its dimensions and components, using the documentary research method. By introducing the most important factors affecting social capital in Iran during the last five decades, this research has shown that increasing awareness, increasing trust and increasing participation are important factors in creating social capital and improving it in the form of drivers in Iran. Enumerating the causes of social capital weakness in Iran is another part of this research. In the end, along with the prediction of the social capital situation in Iran in the horizon of 1414, the most important challenges to reach a favorable situation in this area in the mentioned horizon have been discussed with an emphasis on defense and security aspects.
